Brian
has been coaching for twelve years in the Austin
area. He is
currently in his 3rd season with the University of Texas where he serves
as the volunteer assistant coach and was on
the sidelines for the Longhorns' 2008 run to the Final Four and 2009 run
to the national championship game. His
previous coaching experience includes working one season as the
Assistant Coach at Southwestern University, parts of five
seasons with the University
of
Texas
women's club team, eight seasons with AIM Volleyball and is currently in
his 4th season with Austin Performance. Brian helped the
2007 Southwestern University Pirates to the 2nd round of the NCAA
tournament. Brian has led the UT women’s club team to 3 national championships, including the 2007 NIRSA
Division 1 National Championship. The UT team finished an amazing 51-0
in matches over the 8-month 2006-07 season and a perfect 9-0 match and
18-0 games record at 2007 NIRSA Nationals. Brian's junior teams have qualified
six times for the Junior Olympics and won two national qualifiers. Most
recently, Brian took his AP 16 PHD to the 2010 USA Junior National
tournament in Reno after earning a bid in the National division at Lone
Star Regionals. Brian took his AP 15 PHD team to the 2009 junior olympics in
Miami, and finished 9th place in the 15 National division. The
team had impressive wins over the 2nd and 3rd place finishing teams, and
lost a close battle with the eventual champion. In 2002, Brian took his 15s
team to the Junior Olympic National volleyball tournament after they
qualified by winning the Far Western National Qualifier in Sacramento,
CA. In 2003, Brian took his 15s team to the
Junior Olympic National volleyball tournament after they qualified by
winning the Northern Lights Qualifier in
Minneapolis
,
MN. Brian also co-coached AIM 17 Nike and qualified for Nationals in 2004 where
the team had an impressive 5th place finish. In 2005, Brian coached AIM
17 Nike to an 11th place finish at nationals. Brian
also worked two summers as a coach for the Lone Star Region High
Performance program.
Brian
was a camp director for AIM for eight summers and
spent seven seasons as an assistant director. He is currently the Austin Performance Camps Director. Brian has a strong
passion for continuing to learn the game as well as
communicating that knowledge. He is CAP I certified.
As a player, Brian
played one year for South Shore volleyball club in Houston, one year for Dobie High School in Houston and also played four years for the
University of Texas men’s team. He was named the 2000 Texas conference MVP as he led
UT to the conference championship. Brian was the director of
the UT men's volleyball program for two years. He also competed on the
AA level at USAV Open Nationals, where he finished in the top ten twice.
