, Jayson was introduced to the sport of volleyball in 1982 and played
from the 6th grade through his first two years of college. He
received his Bachelor’s Degree at
McMaster
University
in 1994 and coached both the Scott Park High School Spartans JV Girls’
team for four years and the Varsity Girls’ team for two years. In
those two years he was able to lead the Spartans Varsity squad to HIAC
silver in 1993 and HIAC gold in 1994. Jayson moved to
Abilene
,
Texas
in 1994 where he attended
Hardin
Simmons
University
and was a player/coach on the HSU Men’s club team in 1994 and 1995. He
earned a Masters of Secondary Education from Hardin Simmons in 1997.
While in
Abilene
he coached an 18’s team for the Big Country Volleyball
Association in 1995 and the 2000
Abilene
Attack 18’s team in the North Texas Region.
Jayson is currently the Varsity coach at
Stony Point
High School
in Round Rock. Prior to
Stony Point
, he spent one year as the Varsity coach at Rockdale (2006) where
he helped the Tigers to their first play-off appearance in over twelve
years. Before coaching at
Rockdale he was an assistant at
Fredericksburg
High School
having coached both the freshman and JV teams in his three years there.
Jayson has coached club volleyball in the
Austin
area since 2005 spending his first two seasons with Athletes In Motion
(AIM) and coaching for Austin Performance Volleyball since 2007.
He is IMPACT certified as well as being a NCCP (National Coaches
Certification Program –
Canada
) Level II Volleyball coach.
